about

It is time to get a little personal. The Outfit, TX proudly present their official sophomore release, the double-disc album Cognac/Four Corner Room. The first two installments of their five-part “Texan Chronicles” series, Cognac/Four Corner Room exists as two varying solo projects, conjoined at the hip to represent the juxtaposed unity that makes up TOTX. Entirely produced, written, and engineered by Mel and Dorian, Cognac/Four Corner Room takes listeners deeper into the individual spirits of the two founding members of the triumvirate that is The Outfit, TX.

First up, Mel sets listeners out with a refreshing snifter of Cognac. Smooth and southern, Cognac bends a couple of corners as Mel holds court, coolly and confidently, no topic too off cuff to be discussed or too sobering to be put over ice. Mel provides new meaning and depth to what it really means to be a player, or “playa,” as he so eloquently puts it. He also officially solidifies himself as a viable component of TOTX’s production team, him and Dorian sharing Cognac’s production duties, adding a little cayenne pepper to an already bubbling roux.

Closing things out, Dorian gives listeners his unique perspective on the events that have taken place since the founding of TOTX. Four Corner Room blurs the line between dreams and reality as Dorian showcases his gifts as a producer and songwriter, evoking a wide range of emotions; each song like a snapshot of that moment time.
